Cherie Carbines – Business Director OpenMedia
Many years ago in London Cherie developed a passion for databases, and has utilised that passion working on a variety of databases – ranging from the advance maintenance planning of a London railway company to the ongoing development of directories and subscription databases for publishing houses in Auckland. With a talent for passing on her knowledge, she now runs the training branch of the company as well as serving in an Office Manager role.
Cherie is also getting involved in LinuxChix. With as diverse a background as she has, and the current part-time job as a Sailor in NZ’s Reserve Navy, she has learned some very valuable life lessons that she is keen to use in assistance to others.
Cherie has recently begun presenting talks, based on her experiences of getting involved in Open Source, and of running OpenMedia, including the 2007 Open Source Developers Conference and the Auckland Girl Geek Dinners.
